Do You Mind?

Isn't it amazing how the human mind can play tricks on us? One thought ripples it to think of another and another, creating a human popcorn machine effect in our head. This process can result in a person feeling paranoid, tense, stressed, troubled, etc. And, it shows. It shows in our eyes, in the way we walk, the way we talk, the way we argue, and the way we carry on our daily business.

Being able to control your mind, stopping it at one thought at a time, crossing each bridge as you get to it, not only eases your tension, it also gives you an air of confidence that helps you see things more clearly. Only problem is, easier said than done!

True. From one thought to the next and so on until paranoid delusion is rampant and life becomes an endless string of possible worst-case scenarios. And you're right, it shows! Man, how it shows.

God help us all.

june: just like prisoners on the run.. they give themselves away by being paranoid! when u feel like ur being watched, ur always looking over ur shoulder.. and that, attracts attn!

i love what u wrote about 'life becomes and endless string of possible worst-case scenarios'.. so true! that usually hits at night when ur trying to go to sleep! =)

Thank God I'm not alone in this...I've been struggling lately with worse case scenario thoughts...I was actually debating buying this new book that's out "How to Overcome Fear"...coz worse case scenarios keep coming and the fear keeps growing and growing...it sucks...I've now programmed my mind to say postivie affirmations all day in my head just to leave no space for negative thoughts...it works most of the time...I just can't afford to entertain any negative thoughts...actually I don't think anybody can...so I'm sticking to my mantra until I buy the book and see if it's got any other suggestions..:)

misscosmokuwait: hi.. long time no see =)

what works for me is putting my faith in God. I guess with time and experience, I've come to accept that no matter how much we think about something, elly Allah Katba beseer.. fa all I can do is pray and leave the rest up to ElKhalq.

The fist part of your post is exactly about me.

Now I reach that point, when I stop to control my mind. Totally.

I'm afraid of it, but I know that I can't find any solution for this.

Oh, no, I know one :(

But can you imagine how big & hard must be load if it makes you faint even!
What to do in such cases?

MSB, your last posts are philosophical. I see you think a lot & deeply, too ;-)

I am sick .. my head hurts .. my body hurts .. of my god i think i am coming down with the flu .. will the flu give me cancer...cancer is bad .. OMG i can't have cancer ... i wont be able to get married .. i wanna get married ... i wont be able to see my children ....

=D Something like that you mean ...

Btw.. i am sick and i am going home to sleep it off ...

What you said varies from one person to another, some do it all the time, some do it when it is about something dear to them.

it shows on some, and doesn't show on others... it really is easier said than done.

Yoga would do that mayhaps, MsB. Just the question of disciplining the mind to want to commit to it...

I know what you mean, and I havent managed the yoga. Some days your thoughts merge into a rumble, and on others they spark with too much friction... It's all a matter of disciplining your mind, but you risk becoming more monotonous and predictable with the spontaneity of emotions being replaced by redundancy...

Simply, the madness of our thoughts chasing each other make us more human maybe...

sever: i can see u fitting this description! what u do is put ur faith in God, and release ur thoughts!

fractal: salamat.. hope u get well soon!!

isabelle: yes, some people have just gotten better at hiding it.. but the best solution is to stop it completely, as opposed to hiding it =)

jitterbug: that's exactly what i was thinking of. at one point in time, i did 'mind yoga'. it DEFINITELY helps in refocussing the brain. Very relaxing and it helps re-energize you; it reduces the negative energy that builds up in your body as a result of this thought process.
